Marin ULTRA Challenge @ Fort Baker6:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Registration fees increase by $5.00 on June 8, 2013. Add $10.00 additional on race day.
Race Information
Inside Trail is proud to showcase this event. Meticulous effort went into the design of the 50k and 50 mile courses. They are challenging (50 Mile has over 10,000 ft climb) and beautiful. Every step of the race is run on fresh ground with no overlapping. Jim Vernon from The Endurables spent hours and weekends developing this custom, brand new course and we are super excited to show it off. In fact, we’re so excited, we are offering a little chunk of prize money!! In the 50 mile race: Male/Female 1st-$250, 2nd-$150, 3rd-$100, along with special awards for both distances and age groups.
With La Sportiva as our 2013 partner and Suunto and Hydrapak as our Marin Ultra Challenge sponsors, we will be giving away two free La Sportiva shoes and A LOT of Hydrapak gear, including the E-Lite Vest, Soft Flasks, and water bottles, along with other special raffle awards. Suunto is providing an Ambit GPS watch to each of the overall winners (male & female) in both the 50K and 50 Mile.
Starting just steps away from historic Fort Baker, in the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge, runners may fill their lungs with fresh salt air before embarking on a journey through some of the best trails the Marin Headlands has to offer, including the beautiful views of Coastal Trail and the inland buffed single track of the Miwok. You’ll travel along the coast, by Pirate’s Cove, to Muir Beach. From there, you’ll quietly pass through the Zen center and up the incredible new Middle Green Gulch hill. Your journey will ultimately end with amazing vistas of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge from the SCA and Coastal trails… all the way back to the finish at Cavallo Point. Aid stations will be packed with all the goodies you love, plus a generous helping of delicious Clif Products!
We’re capping the race at 300 people. So, register early!

Reservoir Dogs Trail Race @ San Pablo and Briones Reservoirs, EBMUD8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Registration fees increase by $5.00 on June 29, 2013. Add $10.00 additional on race day.
Race Information
The Reservoir Dogs Trail Race will be the first trail running event allowed to completely circumnavigate the Briones Reservoir on the beautiful, normally “permit-only”, EBMUD trails. Enjoy beautiful, rolling, tree covered single-track and open fire roads with sweeping views of the watershed lands on this relatively fast 10K, Half Marathon and 35K course.
Like most EBMUD trails, you will enjoy an extremely scenic run which offers more of a sense of remoteness than the typical East Bay park. Briones Reservoir is also one of the few EBMUD properties that has a substantial length of single-track trail. Most of the course is moderately rolling hills, and boasts a nice progression of quintessentially East Bay environments. You’ll first run through dense, shady woods on the south side of the reservoir; then follow the shoreline along a mostly flat stretch of trail partially shaded by oak woods; you’ll then climb into the hills where there is almost no tree cover but affords plenty of viewing opportunities of these unspoiled lands.
The Start and Finish for all races will be in the San Pablo Reservoir Recreation Area, which has a plethora of outdoor activities for all ages, including: hiking, fishing, kayaking/canoeing and picnicking.

SKIRT AND DIRT TRAIL RUN @ Redwood Regional Park8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Registration fees increase by $5.00 on Aug. 17, 2013. Add $10.00 additional on race day.
Race Information
We’re a far cry from 1967 when Kathrine Switzer slashed through the gender boundaries at the Boston Marathon. Now, Women make up a significant percentage of running events, and the running industry is thrilled about it! To celebrate the positive impact women have had on running and the empowering effect running has had for women, we are putting on a trail race dedicated to the ladies.
The Skirt and Dirt Trail Run is the second race in the She Rocks The Trails Women’s Trail Event Series with NorCalUltras. The all-female event starts and finishes in Redwood Regional Park, where runners will be greeted by towering redwoods that silently spectate and provide shade to the constantly undulating course. The redwoods share the park with vociferous and towering eucalyptus, together creating a true trail running experience where all of your senses are engaged and the heavy anchor of the cumbersome daily grind is lifted–a wonderful mix of solitude and camaraderie with like-minded runners. The course will give you a taste of some the rarely used single-track trails that will meet you with everything from twisty, rocky paths to dense, moss covered forest. This event will leave you with a new appreciation for this gem located within the city of Oakland.
For the gentlemen, check out our Stud ‘n’ Mud Trail Chase. Try to chase down those ladies out on the trail!

First opened to the public in 1971, the park’s 4,756 acres have been a haven for thousands of visitors. Dirty Dare Trail Run @ Sunol Regional Wilderness8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Registration fees increase by $5.00 on October 6, 2013. Add $10.00 additional on race day.
Race Information
Bedrock mortars used by Native Americans for pounding acorns that were found in the area are reminders of Sunol’s first inhabitants. For the past century, however, the land known today as Sunol Regional Wilderness was used almost exclusively as ranch land. Under the East Bay Regional Park District’s multi-use land management policy, cattle continue to graze in the 6,859-acre wilderness.
The Dirty Dare Trail Run was designed by Catra Corbett to give you a taste of all the beauty and splendor Sunol has to offer. You’ll start you run with amazing views of the park, Alameda Creek watershed and Calaveras Reservoir. Once you have made it up to the Macquire’s Peak Loop you’ll be greeted with oak woodland and grassland communities, fossiliferous sandstone outcrops and excellent views of San Antonio Reservoir and Mt. Diablo. The Eagle Peak trail leads you through the “Valley of the Giants” while providing excellent views of the park, Calaveras Reservoir and south bay areas. As you reach the south end of the park you are greeted by chapparal, oak woodland and grassland communities that provides a gently rolling route back to the finish area.
